1. Graduate!! I filed for graduation a few months ago and the date is set. May 2012...here I come!
2. Find a good "post college" job. I know it is unlikely that I will get my dream job the minute I cross that stage, so I hope I can find something that will pay the bills and help me find my place in this world.
3. Rid my life of fear. I'm not sure if this is something I can accomplish in one year, but I will definitely work on it. I'm very hesitant when it comes to many aspects of my life.
4. Date more. I feel so embarrassed putting this one out there...but I'm trying to be less fearful right? So there it is. I don't even know if I can control this, but I hope to meet some nice guys who like coffee and good movies this year. :)
5. Tackle another craft show. I would love to enter as many craft shows as possible this year! I will set my sights on two for now and see where the year takes me.
6. Get ready for change. It's coming. Now that my college career is winding down I need to get ready for what comes next...the rest of my life. Yikes. I sometimes struggle with change so hopefully I can work on that this semester and be prepared for a new direction in my life.
So...here we go! It's time to tackle another year. Like always, I want to be open to learn new things, like making an animated GIF for the first time! So fun! I think I am addicted.
If 2012 is anything like 2011, I think I will be just fine. :) Do you have any goals for the new year?

I want to read more this year (never seemed to find the time to sit & read last year). I want to bake more & try new baking recipes. I want to lose a little weight. And I want to make my crafty dreams come true by opening my own online crafty shop.
ReplyDeleteI've got really good feelings that 2012 is the year to make dreams come true! Good luck with your last semester & finding the right job for you!
I love your goal list. Getting rid of fear is the best thing listed! I think we should all practice this.
ReplyDeleteI think the hardest part of leaving college is that you have to decide how you define success. In college, success is all about good grades and learning new things. But outside of college, it is less straight forward. I guess that is my long winded way of saying that I hope goal #2 goes well for you. But think about what your definition of a "good" job is. (It's been something that many of my post-college friends and I have struggled with.)
ReplyDeletearen't gifs the funnest?! I love the photo of your goals. Your nails look super pretty! I know 2012 is going to be a good year, I can feel it!
ReplyDeleteEmbarrassed of wishing a dating? You know, it made me so glad to see that dot! On your behalf, and on my own, somehow :-) I wan't it too, and I hope we both can make it! I wish you all the best of luck (and - maybe more important: lots of cofee with at least one guy ;-))
ReplyDeleteMaybe not getting rid of fear, but learning how and when to ignore it is totally do-able! Best of luck with your goals - it's a great list!
ReplyDeleteI really like your honesty in your 2012 goals! A couple years ago I dont even think I could have done that!
ReplyDeleteI've loved following all your amazing milestones in 2011 and I can't wait to continue seeing what life has in store for you!

EEP! We have SO many of the same goals! Graduate and getting a big girl job are the top two things on my list, but I definitely want to do more dates with the hubby once my homework isn't fighting for my attention, and I'm getting ready for some change! :)
ReplyDeleteHope your 2012 rocks!
Love your nail polish - so pretty! And your goals are great, too. I hope you accomplish them all
ReplyDelete: )
Love this, some great resolutions. I have a similar post up at my blog and a new knitting project.
ReplyDeleteLet us know what techniques you employ for ridding yourself of fear. I think that's something that's really common but I haven't found any great ways to deal with it myself.
Happy New Year!
What lovely goals you have for this year, Meredith! I love your number 3...I'm trying that this year, myself. I tend to be cautious to the point that it's excessive, so this year I'm going to try to let go a bit more.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you do more craft fairs this year, hopefully I can pop into one of them and see your booth! (I was so excited for the Jingle Bash this year, but I ended up moving not long before the Bash.)
Happy 2012!
xoxo, Allie
I hope all of these can happen! :) Especially the job and the dating! Finding a job after graduation sounds so...daunting...I'm a junior so I have another year but eep nonetheless! I also love #3 -- this is an awesome, awesome goal! It's seriously possible. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, you're not alone! I put find love as one of my 2012 wishes. :) My thought is that by just putting it out there it's sending out positive energy in that direction.

Wonderful goals. I will be graduating in May as well, so I understand all the thoughts that come with that big change. Here is hoping we both succeed in a wonderful way. My intention for the year is to simplify and I will be going about that in a number of ways.
ReplyDelete-Sara-
Good luck, Meredith! Please try and do a craft show in Austin, I'd definitely come buy some of your things!
ReplyDeleteOne of my good friends died from being hit by a car this summer so I've developed a fear of vehicles and crossing the street, so I'd like to work on actually taking driver's ed and putting myself out there and learning to drive while at the same time overcoming my fear(I'm 15 and all my friends have their licenses, I'm so lame.)
I'd also like to learn to make my own patterns and sew a new dress, a pair of shorts, and *gasp* perhaps a pair of trousers! :D
Meredith...I love your posts and your way of thinking.
ReplyDeleteRid your life of fear...do you know how far you are? It is amazing what you are doing, and have achieved, and you're only 21. If I look at myself at that age - oh my, I was cutting classes to go to te movies, my biggest worry was how to pass Plant Physiology, I didn't have a thought beyond next week. I did manage to make 2 quilts that I still use today! Keep on doing what you're doing, make a huge yarn bomb this year (love the knitted one!), I hope you meet a great guy. Have a good year.
I also love reading the comments on your post. Kelly, I decided to note all the books I read in 2011. Forgot a couple of months, but was amazed yesterday when I blogged about that - managed to finish 95. How???
ReplyDeleteAUdrey, I agree. M, I hope you find an enjoyable job, that you look forward to doing every day. If it pays well, that's a bargain :-)
Zoe, you're not lame. You'll be fine. There's lots of time to drive.
Congrats and good luck to all of you who will be graduating, or are almost there!
I'm wishing so many of the same things for my 2012! I'm graduating as well, getting ready for change and the next, more grown-up, phase of my life.
ReplyDeleteIt's so reassuring to know that other people are trying to wrap their heads around it too! Best of luck to you this year :)
hell yes girl. this is a terrific list of (totally achievable) resolutions! graduate is on my list as well (though it's kind of a freebie - unless something terrible happens between now and may) and i think resolving to be more bold with dudes is excellent. my list for the year includes building a tee pee (for indoor playing/in case i decide to go the hobo route after college), road tripping through new england, and learning to focus more on the present. at this stage of life, when you have no clue what's happening after you graduate and you know the structure imposed by schooling will no longer be a shaping force in your life and you don't know where your friends will be this time next year - it's pretty easy to slip into constant panic/planning mode. so i'm going to try out a more relaxed mentality. billions of people continue to exist after college, most of them with at least some degree of success. and with that in mind, i'm hoping to focus less on the terrifying parts that lie in the unknown future and more on the fun bits that are happening now. good luck with your resolutions!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to trying #5 again. Your goals seem fun. I wish you the best of luck on all of your adventures and I hope that your year is an amazing one.
ReplyDeleteI love love love your goals!!! Simple... and to the point :-) And I adore the last one. Very true! XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a great list! I've got a few resolutions of my own, so hopefully I can stick to them and make them happen this year. Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteSuper great goals! I was preparing for a lot of change at the beginning of 2011, so I know how you feel! Kind of scary but also very exhilerating. I hope 2012 rocks for you!!
ReplyDeletePS: Super cute blog! :)
Ah, I love your honesty. That is a great list of goals, most of which are the same as mine! (graduating, hoorah!) Good luck to you dear <3
ReplyDeleteLove your blog =]
These are all such fabulous goals! Good luck with your year, I graduated two years ago and it was so terribly exciting to feel like I could do whatever I wanted, haha! Also I have to say that I love your nail polish :) happy new year!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog & love it. Thanks! I'm your newest follower. Happy 2012! WOO HOO.
ReplyDelete'the rest of my life' after graduationg sounds kinda scary, but it will be an amazing adventure! you'll meet lots of interesting people and o all kinds of things. it will be great :) good luck!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you're not here in Australia or i'd definitely try to ask you on a date ;)
ReplyDeleteCrafting girls rock my world!
Just found your blog for the first time and .....WOW!!!beautiful and inspiring, go you!
ReplyDeleteFound you through Maie Daie! Participating in more craft shows is one of my goals this year, as well! I've done a few different artist markets and vintage fairs and they were all so much fun. Lovely blog... keep it up!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year to you! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with finishing up your college years and finding a job. I know I'm only in my second year of college, but I'm always thinking about my future after college too.
Just wanted to say you and your blog have really inspired me and my crocheting. Being in the same busy college situation as you, I didn't know if I would be able to keep up my crochet, but my goodness you have accomplished alot more than me with a much busier college year. So, thanks for that. :)
Good luck with college and knitting!

Oh my gosh I just love you all so much. Your comments make me want to burst with happiness! It looks like we are all going to accomplish a lot this year by tackling our fears and being true to ourselves. :)
ReplyDeletei like your 6th goal, happy new year, and good luck with 2k12! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to do #2 for a year and a half. :(
ReplyDeletep.s. haha I said "I've been trying to do #2"
You can definitely control #4! My friend Angie just broke up with her boyfriend and decided to rebound in a big way by dating like crazy for the foreseeable future. Thus, http://everyotherdayportland.wordpress.com/ was born! So far, the experiment is going well and we haven't had to go rescue her from any dates-gone-wrong yet :-)
ReplyDeletethis is one of the coolest lists i've seen so far.
ReplyDeletecheers for being awesome!
xoxo
Congrats to the (soon to be)college grad. I wish I was almost done with college. >.<
ReplyDeleteAnd those are some nice goals. I hope to rid my life of fear as well. And the dating thing, is hard to control. I'm in the same boat, but the way I see it, why be shy? If you're interested in someone then get to know them and then just tell them you're interested. And if they don't feel the same way then just move on to the next one. Dating is difficult but I have to believe it gets easier. ^.^
Hi Meredith, Just wondering - what program do you use to make your GIF's? I love them!
