This weekend I will be as quiet as a church mouse on all forms of social media (Twitter, Instagram...etc.) because I will be helping with a youth camp at my church! (Haha, see what I did there?) I attended this event all throughout high school and I am so excited to have the opportunity to lead a group of sweet girls. I'm also a little nervous because...leading...that's not my "thing". I'm just going to do my best and try not to be intimidated. Since I will probably have to struggle to get the phones out of the clutches of the girls in my group, I thought it would be a good idea to set an example and keep my phone tucked inside my purse.
I really enjoy taking a break from the noise of the Internet every now and then. It helps me put things in perspective. Also, this will be a great way to refresh before the start of my last semester of college next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Do you have any fun plans?
Oooh good for you! Have fun! d^_^b

Have a great time! (^_^)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThat's so fun! I used to do it every summer as well. It's crazy, but those darlings will teach you far more than you'll teach them. It's very rewarding! Have a great time and enjoy the time being un-plugged!!

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

it's such a joy to accidently stumble onto a blog written by a christian :)!
Have Fun. You'll do it right. I just started to read your blog and it is awesome. I need to take a break from the Internet too hehe. I just started a blog and I've been very obsessed with that hehe.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm a bit shy too, but was a teacher for years. I found the easiest way to command the room and fake charisma is just to be as confident as possible. Say what you know in command form, and don't back down. As in, phrasing is everything- It's not "Do you want to put your cell phone away", there's no choice to it, it's "put the phone away, period".
ReplyDeleteThis is great! I started to help out in the childrens programme at our church, yesterday. I did it for years when I was "young"(I was very shy!) and I felt nervous yesterday. After a while I realised how much I enjoy it to work with children - when you're authentic(?) they just love you the way you are and you don't have to "pretend". I remember, when I was a child, that I liked the leaders best that didn't pretend to be cool. Enjoy all of it and have the most wonderful unplugged weekend. Simone
ReplyDeleteYep! I'm heading off to Centre Parcs for a week of swimming, pancake eating and general fun with a load of my friends. January holidays are the best!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break.
