A happy mail delivery on a sick day

Yesterday was declared a "sick day" when I woke up with no sense of smell and a voice about three octaves deeper than usual. I stayed home all day, drinking tea, watching movies, and feeling generally miserable until...the yarn fairy arrived! The yarn I ordered for my next project, the fawn poncho/"fawn-cho", finally came in and I'm so excited! After "oohing" and "ahhing" over the pretty colors, and in an attempt to relieve my cabin-fever boredom, I decided to snap a few pictures. See, my gif-making addiction is so intense that not even a cold could keep me from animating a stack of yarn in my hand. ;-)

However, this excitement was cut short when I realized that I don't have the right size circular needles for the pattern. Such a let down. Oh well. Even though I can't play with this pretty yarn yet, I'm just really, really excited about starting a new project! Does anyone else get in moods like this? All I want to do is create something and learn a few new techniques along the way.

I wish this yarn had healing powers though...I'm ready to stop sniffling.

What projects are you excited about right now?

  12. Oh I HATE when that happens! You get all excited about the pattern, you have the perfect yarn and then no needle..grr! Patience is a virtue I suppose..Your yarn choice looks gorgeous, it will be worth the wait! I am busy knitting the softest and sparkliest chain links for my Goldie Looking Chain Cowls which are selling well in my Etsy shop. Other then that I am determined to finally cast on and finish my second sock, completing my first pair!

  16. New yarn is the hippest thing since sliced bread. I can't wait to see what magic you do to it! Right now I can't wait for my spring break to start so I can do some more yarn graffiti things and get some of my scraps out of my bag, haha. I will be looking forward to a silly time.

  17. Love your choice of colors! My current project is making bows for necklaces, headbands, and rings. My friend and I were able to get a booth at a local craft fair, and I'll be making crochet goods for it.

  18. Oooh!!!!! That is exciting!! Well, after seeing the beautiful fawn poncho you plan to make (and all your gorgeous knitted goodies), I have finally gotten the gumption to start knitting. I have been an avid crocheter for years, but am so excited to start being a part of the knitting world. I really love the patterns on Tiny Owl Knits, and have decided to tackle the Beekeeper's Quilt. I am in love with the hexapuffs and like the idea of being able to work on them anywhere (I often take yarn out to dinner).
Thank you so much for the inspiration and I can't wait to see how your project progresses:)))

I know what you mean about getting ridiculously excited about new projects, I recently made my Spring sewing schedule and every day I can't wait to get home from work to get started on the project for that day! Sneak Peek of some Spring items on my blog on March 3rd!

  21. I think it is a rule that you will never have the right size needles. It doesn't even matter if you have ever size. Inevitably, the size you need will be attached to a WIP. I am looking forward to seeing your fawn-cho. (Which is really an excellent portmanteau.)

  35. I highly recommend using the time between when you get your yarn and when you actually have the correct needles to wind all of your hanks into useable balls! Then you can just knit, knit, knit!
