I'm looking forward to another relaxing and crafty weekend...
- ...Even though I have another big paper to work on for Monday. Blah.
- I have a nice stack of spring magazines just waiting to be read. How beautiful is Adele on the cover of Vogue? She is amazing.
- It looks like it might be a little rainy tomorrow, so I think I'll bake some of my favorite bread to have with tea. It is seriously the easiest recipe ever. No yeast or rising and it is super tasty.
- I have lots of Valentine's treats to enjoy too, like my box of Dots. They are way better than the regular kind.
- Oh how I want to knit. I missed it so much this week. I wonder if I still remember how...? ;) I'm looking for a new project to start, like a blanket or sweater, but I haven't found the right pattern yet. If you have any recommendations, I would love to see!
How was your week? Care to share any of your plans for the next few days?

Is the bread savory or sweet? This sounds like a fun weekend for you! I'm thinking about doing some yarn bombing, was it scary?
ReplyDeleteThe bread is a little sweet because it has the dried currants inside, but not overly sweet.
DeleteYay yarn bombing! It was a little scary but mostly really really fun! I was super jumpy and excited when I finished mine. Haha. That could just be me though. ;) What are you planning on yarn bombing? I've been contemplating my next project too.
I want to do it on my college's campus, so that people will see it, but not obvious enough that it would just get cut down right away. I'm thinking the railway leading up to the library or something. I don't know, fun and scary though!
DeleteThat sounds like a good idea to me! I'd love to hear how it turns out! :)
DeleteHuge papers are the worst! I'm supposed to be writing 50,000words at the moment but everything else just seems SO much fun!
ReplyDelete50,000 words?!? Wowza. Good luck!
DeleteYes, I know the feeling of being so busy! It is nice though when you are done and all the hard work pays off. Good luck with all of your studies!
ReplyDeleteI have to work on an essay this weekend, too! And catch up on so much reading I've been putting off all week. But I also get to do some Hunger Games crafting for a swap and hang out with friends!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel, I have a couple tests on Monday that I desperately need to study for, but I'd much rather crochet or bake some new mini pies. How has your week of wearing your unique sweaters gone? It seems like you have done well so far :)
ReplyDeletexo, Megan
gingerly
Definitely. Baking and crochet are always preferred over studying.
DeleteThe sweater wearing was great! Towards the end of the week I actually stopped thinking about what others were going to think of the sweaters because I was just so excited to wear them! ;)
this is going to be my next big venture, i want to make my own cardi!

ill be running around with friends, laying out some plans for a possible etsy shop in the future (quite far future im sure), and contact ppl for internships (not so fun..)
yay weekend!
Lovely sweater! Have a great weekend and good luck with the internship contacts! :)
Deletelove you`re oven mitts.
ReplyDeletemmm i love soda bread. do you know if it's still yummy without the currants?
ReplyDeletei'm looking for a knitting project right now too. got some awesome yarn for christmas (enough for a sweater) but need the right patter... i'm probably an intermediate knitter... will find something eventually! good luck to you!
I'm sure the bread would still be tasty without currants. Let me know if you try it!
DeleteSounds like a lovely weekend. :-) I'll be celebrating a friend's birthday with a Gatsby-themed party and Sunday orchestra concert. Somewhere in there I'm going to find some me time.
ReplyDeleteThose two colors of yarn are my absolute favorite colors, especially when they're together! I hope you post a picture of what you make with them I would love to see it :)
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about being in college and no time to knit. It drives me crazy!!! There was a lot of controversy with the adele cover, because they airbrushed the wazoo out of her, and made her skinny and she was unhappy because it doesn't look like her, she was pissed. Have fun with your free weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, so frustrating!
DeleteOh I had no idea about the cover controversy! I don't understand why anyone would want to airbrush such a beautiful lady.
Just wanted to take a moment to wish you a happy weekend! Hope you get in lots of awesome creating and knitting and all around relaxation!
ReplyDeleteAh I want to make that bread so bad! But I don't have a mixer... I wonder if I could make it without one?
ReplyDeleteI want to knit this sweater soon, but I have to finish my other projects first :-). http://textisles.com/designs/o-w-l-s/
ReplyDeleteor this one: http://weaverknits.blogspot.com/2010/03/all-new-lauren.html
And another one: http://owlsisters.blogspot.com/2011/05/free-paulie-for-you.html
I love them all.
Have a happy weekend!
Thanks for sharing such lovely sweater patterns! :)
DeleteGood luck on your paper! I'll be alternating between writing papers, knitting, drinking tea, and sa-wooning on Ravelry. Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteThese weekend plan photos please me to no end. I think I need to start making to do lists in this fashion....I've always been such a visual thinker. When I used to study *cram* for Art History tests in college, I eventually landed on creating a a single page of all the info I needed to know, listed into different categories surrounded by hand drawn borders. It help my brain imagine where they were at on the paper when I was struggling during the actual test.
ReplyDeleteAnd those two yarn colors together are totally rad.
I saw this:

And it made me think of you and your colourful sweaters!
Wren
Wow. That is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing the link with me! :)
DeleteHey Meredith, sounds like a lovely weekend plan. Thanks for sharing the bread recipe link - I was planning on making some this weekend, so will give it a go.
ReplyDeleteI recently finished my first sweater, which might be up your street: http://textisles.com/designs/o-w-l-s/. In fact all the designs on here are amazing!
And talking of sweaters, how did your experiment go?
Jo :-)
I know what you mean. Finding the time to craft and blog when 'life' seems to take over is just impossible. I need my sleep, so finding the time without staying up late can be hard! I wish i didn't have to go to work sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYour favourite bread recipe, is my favourite as well. I use this recipe http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/classic-soda-bread-recipe, but I add a teaspoon of fennel seeds. It jazzes things up a bit ;) The same chef does a Guiness, Apple and cheese soda bread! http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/apple-guiness-and-cheese-soda-bread-recipe - even more jazzy.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to back soda bread and make butternut & sweet potato soup this weekend. It's a week later than your baking plans, but it's still the same bread so that's cool.
