Weekend Plans - Ready for the London Olympics!

Happy Friday everyone! I can't believe the London 2012 Olympic games are finally here! I've been waiting for this day since the closing ceremonies in Beijing. I am a huge Olympics fan. During the Beijing games, Michael Phelps won his eighth gold medal on my 18th birthday. My friends and I were having a sleepover, so we huddled around the TV to watch him make history. Actually...I couldn't watch the last few laps because I was so nervous! My friends kept telling me to turn around but I just couldn't take the excitement!! When he won we practically exploded!!! It was such an amazing moment. That's what I love about the Olympics. For a few weeks we all come together to cheer on the best athletes in the world. We always need a little unity. :)

I baked some earl grey muffins this morning to enjoy during the opening ceremonies. A little tea tribute to the London games! :) It might be a thousand degrees outside, but that won't stop me from drinking tea, knitting, and having a muffin! I'll just turn down my AC for the next few hours. Let the games begin!

Who else is super excited about the Olympics? What is your favorite sport to watch?

  9. So excited for the Olympics!!! During the summer, I love swimming, gymnastics, and track & Field. For winter, I love ice skating, skiing, and snowboarding. Now that you've talked about baking with tea so many times, I'm going to have to try it. The muffins look delicious :)

  10. I would enjoy it more if I could have gotten away from London in time to appreciate it from a distance! It's a major pain but I will enjoy watching the aquatic events and the gymnastics on TV/iPlayer. The weather has cooled down again over here so it's more enjoyable to go and watch it on the big screens in Victoria Park, with a picnic in tow.

  11. F&M earl grey is the best, though I think you've used another brand since they don't come with tags? I think not...though I always buy loose tea there.
This recipe looks gorgeous, thanks for sharing. Sweet film. x

  14. Oh goodness, I'm a huge Olympics fan as well. Though it was the 2008 Olympics that converted me. The atmosphere, and the beauty of the opening ceremony and everything else related to it...I was in awe. ^^
Anyways, I like your collection of objects for this Olympic weekend! And yum, Earl Grey muffins sound scrumptious.

  17. I've got a bad case of Olympic fever and no way to watch it! I always love watching the swimming events, gymnastics, soccer, and sometimes volleyball (indoors & beach). (Funny- all sports that related to me- I almost played volleyball in middle school, played soccer for half my life, always wanted to be a gymnast, and I love swimming). Now if only I had cable :(

  20. Mmmm those muffins sound really good! You nicely worded the excitement of the Olympics, I think it is very emotional! (I am always close to tears every time a game/race is over, no matter who has won the gold) My favorite summer sports are swimming, badminton, archery (which I don't see on tv too often), gymnastics, beach volley ball, and cycling... okay, so all of them! :)

  21. I also love the Olympics, just as much as you, by the sounds of it! I do love the swimming (and staring at Ryan Lochte) but as a former rower, rowing is definitely my absolute favourite. Cheering for the Canadian Men's Eight!
