Every year I make my mom a Christmas ornament. Last year I gave her the first of many crochet teacup ornaments and she absolutely loved it. For weeks I tried to come up with something she would love just as much and I finally decided to go with her favorite Christmas theme, a snowman. She has always loved anything and everything with a snowman on it. When she opened her ornament yesterday morning she was so surprised that she cried a little bit. It made me so happy to see her so happy! The feeling of giving a handmade gift never gets old.
I think her snowman ornament brought Texas some wintery luck because, for the first time in my lifetime, it snowed on Christmas!
It was magical watching the snow fall all afternoon. Each time I looked out the window at the puffy snowflakes I had to pinch myself to make sure it was real. A Christmas filled with snow, my wonderful family, and a warm home. I could not possibly wish for anything more. I hope your holiday was just as merry! I think it is time to go for another walk in the snow before it melts away...How was Christmas in your part of the world? What handmade gifts did you give your friends and family?

Hooray for a white Christmas!!! We didn't get any snow here in Sicily except up on the volcano, but that's okay... it's not as if we were expecting any. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cute snowman! Both of them! We are enjoying the snow...mostly taking pictures and me watching from the window. My youngest has discovered instagram so it has been fun to see her pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh you're so lucky! I was hoping for snow on Christmas but I guess I'll have to go to the mountain to get some snow. I also made a bunch of snowman ornaments for christmas, they're just so cute!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got the snow you wanted! I made tons of scarves for everyone! It was such a good feeling to watch them open them :)

I'm sure it was! I'm glad you had a good Christmas! :)
DeleteWow I love this! Must get better at crocheting... I just knitted a few wee stockings to put sweets in, so quick and easy! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea Elise!
DeleteHow sweet! Loved your cookies too!
ReplyDeleteI crocheted a little stuffed love bug animal for my youngest son and fingerless gloves for my older sons. I also made them some journals and fleece no sew blankets. Even with their regular Santa gifts, I was really happy that they were so excited to receive my homemade gifts. They are 6, 9, and 12 and have always seen me making gifts for family and friends at Christmas. They really appreciated the fact that I made several things just for them this year.
ReplyDeleteThat is so special Sara. Your handmade gifts sound lovely! :)
DeleteFrom all the wonderful blogs I really have to make something homemade for next year!! I think I'm going to do clay ornaments because I just don't' have the crocheting skills! Your snowman is so adorable! I wish I had the patience to do something like that!!
ReplyDeleteThe snow was pretty until i had to drive home in it when it hit New York...Yikes! =)
Merry Christmas!

That snowman ornament is adorable. =) I knitted mittens for my secret santa gift this year, which instantly gave me away as the gift giver, but I love giving handmade gifts also and I just couldn't help myself. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteHaha that's awesome! Merry Christmas to you Laura!
DeleteHappy to hear you had a white Christmas!! In Texas!! Up here in Canada, we've had snow since October. It wouldn't be Christmas without it =)
ReplyDeleteI make homemade wrapping paper every year. (thanks to Pinterest I always have a ton of new ideas!) I also made jam jar covers and a couple new pet pillows (with a crochet edge) for the cats! Homemade gifts keep a person very busy (and I NEVER start them soon enough!) but they are so fun to make and mean so much.
Merry Christmas!
I agree Jessica! Merry Christmas!
DeleteThe snowmen it's so cute your pictures are perfect, would you mind me asking what camera and lenses you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Merry christmas and happy new year :)
Thank you! I use a Canon Rebel XS.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you!
Wow! I have never seen snow but images of Christmas like this are always spectacular! We've just had a relatively cold Christmas for this part of the world but I still managed to wear one of my sundresses for it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea to make your mum a Christmas decoration each year, I think I might have to instigate this tradition for next year. My mum would love it! Although I fear a crotchet snowman might be a bit tricky for my first attempt! Lucky you getting snow as well, sadly we only had rain in the UK this year.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have a white Christmas and that's such a cute decoration! We just had rain in the UK, but it was still a great Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThat's so exciting! It didn't snow here and I live in Ohio, which is so sad :( But we had a huge blizzard yesterday, so that definitely made up for it! And that ornament is adorable! Hope you had a great Christmas :)

You are so lucky! I have never had a white Christmas as of yet. It looks absolutely beautiful. And your snowman ornament to your mom is very very cute, I especially like the mistletoe on the hat.
