Weekend Plans 2/22 - 2/24

This past week was filled with way too many craft disasters. The sweater makeover I started last weekend did not work at all. Thankfully I didn't ruin the sweater so I can try something else with it another day. I also worked on a few upcoming projects, each one resulting in frustration and multiple trips to the craft store for more supplies. This week knitting, crochet, and embroidery were far from relaxing. Unfortunately all of these mistakes happened when a few minutes of creative time would have been appreciated. Oh well. I learned from my slip-ups and hopefully this weekend will be much more productive. The cheerful colors in these photos have already lifted my spirits. Here's what I have planned...

- Since last weekend's sweater makeover idea didn't work, I am putting it aside and starting with something new. If all goes as planned (fingers crossed!) I think it will be really cute. Hopefully I can share it with you next week!

- After multiple redoes, I started fiddling with a new crochet project last night. I'm not sure what it will become, but I like the blue color.

- I can't wait to bake these jam-filled buttermilk biscuits for breakfast tomorrow.

- Even though the last thing I need is another project, throughout all of my craft failures this week I wished I had a big, relaxing, blanket project to work on. I broke down and went to Michael's this afternoon to get some yarn for the Giant Granny Square Blanket from Purl Bee. I have been itching to start for months now and I am just going to do it!

  2. That looks like my kind of weekend! I love your posts and the lovely colors in your photos. I can see how they can lift your spirits. They lift mine too! I'm almost finished with a scarf for my best friend's birthday tomorrow. It's a Peacock stitch using Marisol Qina yarn in Jungle Green. 80% Baby alpaca & 20% Bamboo. It's soooo soft. Then I'm looking for a crochet plane pattern for her little 4 year old son. His birthday is in March. Have a happy weekend!

  4. I love the way you group your projects for the weekend.
    I'm nearly finished with a ripple blanket and they've they've discontinued the colours of yarn I've been using so this weekend I'm going to pick out a different colour for the border, exciting!

  6. I bought all of that green and blueish grey color yarn. They are beautiful and so soft! I made scarves with them and they are my favorite!

  10. Ah, sorry about the crafting disasters! (Though I'm sure you could never create a real craft disaster, everything you do is so amazing!) I hope this weekend will be a crafting success and re-inspire you again! Your yarns and supplies look so gorgeous, and your plans sound great. I'm sick with a cold this weekend, but actually have a pretty busy couple days. My busiest in a while, actually! But I'm spending (or trying to) a little time relaxing, drinking tea, crocheting/knitting, and watching Sense & Sensibility. I LOVE P&P, so hopefully I'll like this too. ;)

  12. Oh thanks for the link to Purl Bee blog isn't it beautiful. I am continuing on with making a granny square shawl but not sure it is working as using dk and seems rather "stiff" at present so hoping a wash will sort when joined all together.

  13. I always fail at my craft when not in the right headspace (not good when it's my living!!). You are right to take a step back and breath and start again. Those colours will sooth you for sure :)

  15. I recently did a sweater makeover and the first result was disastrous too. The yarn was way too heavy and the sweater sagged horribly. I went back and used a lighter weight yarn, and was so pleased with the result. You'll figure out what to do to make your project work for you. Sometimes crafting is all about problem solving.

  17. I have a giant granny square blanket in progress ( it's about 5' x 5' right now) and it really is such a comforting project. Very meditative. You'll love it.

  19. Awhh I know what you mean! I hate it when that happens and it usually happens just when I need a project to be relaxing, ie after a bad day! Although usually that is exactly why it doesnt work, because my patience is worn and my head is in the wrong place. Hope this week goes better xxx

  20. I had one of those weeks too. In adapting a simple basket weave knit cushion cover to a different weight wool, I had to restart it four times because I just didn't take the time to plan it out right in the beginning. Too eager to get knitting! Love the giant granny square blanket. I always have a baby blanket project on the go for when I just want to knit. I love the soft wools and bright colours. Although I know of two babies coming this spring so I may have to pick up the pace.
